The Greene County Rams open the 2017 cross-country season tomorrow in the Gilbert Coed Invitational held in Ames on the Iowa State University course. Jeff Lamoureux is coaching the sport for the first time. There are enough girls out to field a varsity team, and possible a JV, but the boys will be cutting it close to have the minimum five runners it takes to qualify for a team score.

Brian Hardaway is one of the boys out for cross-country and he talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about his goals. “I’m hoping we’ll have a team this year. That’s always nice to have. I haven’t had a team for cross-country the past few years. I’m hoping we do well and I’m just going to try my best.”

The Gilbert meet is Ames is traditionally tough because of the course it’s run on and because of the competition.
