Two more days remain until ADM football kicks off the 2017 season with their season and home opener welcoming in the Mustangs of Dallas Center-Grimes to Tiger Stadium.
As both teams march onto the field Friday, ADM will look to use the advantage of the home field to overcome a 4 year loosing skid against the Mustangs. The Tigers will also look to use home field advantage to overcome some of the losses such as 18 seniors and a number of starters on both sides of the ball. ADM has lost their top receiver as well as top rusher and passer, both of whom were Sam McCartney who accounted for 22 of last year’s 27 team touchdowns. The Tigers do retain the likes of receiving star Gavin O’steen and running back Nick Lindgren. Once the Tigers step onto the field to start 2017, they will still have senior leadership with over 47% of the teams roster made up of seniors. The only problem is nearly half of those seniors have little starting experience under their belts.
Meanwhile the Tigers will be facing a Mustangs roster with a lot of depth coming in with 68 athletes compared to ADM’s 36 count. Dallas Center-Grimes will be bringing 25 seniors to the table which will include their man under center in Damon Clapper who tossed 200 yards and three touchdowns against ADM last season. A solace for ADM is that the Mustang rushing attack looses it’s top rusher from last year not to mention their big defensive threat in Trey Washington who stole two interceptions away from the Tigers.
ADM’s shot at revenge takes place this Friday as they welcome in Dallas Center-Grimes for a non district showdown beginning with pregame coverage at 6:30 pm followed by kick off at 7:30 pm on K107.9 FM. You can also catch the game online at raccoonvalleyradio.com.
