Everyone is invited tomorrow to help dedicate the new city park playground equipment in Scranton.
A dedication ceremony will take place from 4 to 4:30pm with the Greene County Ambassadors holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Through donations and grants, the City purchased the new equipment, the installation of which began on July 28th with the help of 30 volunteers. The City Council recently approved “Scranton School Memorial Park” as the official name. The winning name was submitted by Ruth Naberhaus.
Following the park dedication, a variety of foods will be served from 5 to 6pm. There will be smoked pork, walking tacos, homemade cake and cookies and beverages. Attendees are also encouraged to check out updates on the community visioning projects from 4:30 to 6pm. Scranton was recently selected for the Iowa’s Living Roadways Community Visioning Program. A committee has been meeting since this spring to envision the overall look of the City’s roadsides and related landscapes by combining environmental and stewardship with community improvement projects.
Everything is free and open to the public.
