As the last full week of summer vacation comes to a close for students, the Perry schools are gearing up to welcome them back.

For Perry Superintendent Clark Wicks and 15 new teachers, this is their first back to school in the District. Wicks says he’s very excited to get the year going. “You know we’ve been working with what I consider just an all-star administrative and director group. And then to see some of our instructional coaches working with the new teachers has really been inspirational. Because they’ve done such a thorough job, they brought energy to the table. And you know I think if we could have that kind of attitude, that kind of energy, we will have a successful year.”

At Perry there will be an elementary open house on Monday from 5-6:30 p.m. Freshman orientation will be on Tuesday from 1-3:15 p.m., and the middle school open house will be later, from 6-7:30. Classes will then commence Wednesday for the 1st-12th graders. Kindergarten will start Thursday, and preschool will start August 29th.
