To get a jump start on the early muzzleloader deer hunting season, hunters can now purchase deer tags.

Greene County Recorder Marcia Tasler says there are 7,500 deer tags issued for the entire state again this year. The tags went on sale Monday and as of Thursday morning there were just over 3,000 left. Residents can only purchase one. They are $28.50 each and can be obtained at the county recorder’s office. No additional tags will be issued once all 7,500 are sold out. Tasler reminds hunters that they must have a valid hunting license and habitat stamp in order to hunt in Iowa.
