As motorists drive by Thomas Jefferson Gardens on Lincoln Way in Jefferson, you may have noticed some recent activity.
Jefferson City Administrator Mike Palmer says Godbersen-Smith Construction is replacing the alleyways behind and to the east of Thomas Jefferson Gardens. The project includes removing all of the concrete surface and sub-base, along with installing a new rock sub-base and new concrete on top. Palmer describes how they’ve designed the surface drainage system with the new alleys.
“The concrete is put in so that the water channels to the middle of the alley and then runs out. It doesn’t run off to the sides. We recently did an alley, if somebody wants to see how it was done, is right behind the Sierra Theater. It’s the very same thing. They’re highly durable and they keep the water contained.”
An additional project for Godbersen-Smith is replacing part of Deer Run Road as well. The projects cost $216,396, which the City Council approved on February 28th. Payment for the projects is from Local Option Sales and Service Tax funds.
