Officials are calling a house fire in Jefferson suspicious in nature.
Jefferson Fire Chief Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he and the State Fire Marshal’s office are calling August 3rd’s house fire at 203 South Oak Street suspicious. When fire crews arrived on scene around 10:30pm on August 3rd, the east side of the house was fully engulfed in flames. No one was inside the home at the time of the fire, but the home is a total loss. According to the Greene County Assessor’s real estate webpage, the home is owned by James Mitchell and it is valued at $18,100.
The Jefferson Fire Department believes the fire originated in the kitchen. No cause has been determined and the investigation is ongoing at this time.
