The Guthrie County Fair Board recently held a dedication ceremony for two new livestock buildings on the fairgrounds.
Fair Board Vice-President Kendall Kipp says about 125 people attended their dedication ceremony and ribbon-cutting event for the new rabbit and poultry building, along with a new cattle building. Fair Board President Grant Sheeder talks about the details of the new buildings.
“These are freestanding and open. They’ve got some skylights in them and we’ve got some LED lights inside of them so they’ll be good and bright. They’re 60-foot-by-104-foot (buildings). We’ve got them facing kind of in a T-(shape) where those three existing buildings were.”
Sheeder thanks everyone who helped with their project and continues to support the fairgrounds.
“I can’t say enough about our directors and their wives and husbands because the way that everyone’s stepped up to make everything. It’s obviously not a paid position so the amount of time and energy and the equipment that gets brought in to make this fairgrounds a beautiful place has just been overwhelming. It’s been a great feeling and the donations haven’t slowed down any from in and around the county, so that’s also a good feeling.”
Kipp adds there’s also a plaque in memory of Zach Meachum on the small animal building, which was unveiled at the dedication ceremony.
