The Stuart Library is going to host a special event later this month to celebrate the total solar eclipse.

Youth Coordinator Lacey Partlow invites the public to a free viewing of the solar eclipse at noon on Monday, August 21st. Attendees can bring their lawn chairs and lunch with them and there will be solar bingo starting at 12:45pm.  Partlow says they will also give free solar eclipse safety glasses to the first 50 people. The solar eclipse will happen at 1:05pm. She talks about how she was able to receive free pairs of the glasses.

“It’s kind of a funny story. We actually were awarded these at a recent kids conference. I was lucky enough to be drawn to receive 50 solar eclipse glasses. Despite luck of fate we got these glasses and we decided that we should really celebrate this, and look into more, and find out what we can do to get people excited about the solar eclipse.”

About 95-percent of the sun will be blocked by the moon. Following the solar eclipse, Partlow says they will be making solar cookies at 1:30pm. There’s no registration necessary for the free event.
