Drought conditions continue across the Raccoon River Valley area.
According to the US Drought Monitor as of Thursday, three-quarters of Greene County continues to experience a moderate drought. All of Dallas and Guthrie counties are experiencing abnormally dry conditions. Southern and northwestern parts of the state are in a severe drought.
Rainfall for the month of August has also varied across the area. According to the National Weather Service, Perry has only seen 0.33 inches of rainfall this month and Guthrie Center has already surpassed their monthly rainfall total for August at 1.76 inches. Perry’s monthly rainfall total for the month is 1.34 inches. No information was available for Jefferson.
