It was a completely different picture of the annual Hot August Night event in Jefferson Thursday night.
Last year’s event was rained out, but Thursday night, the sun was shining, there was a slight breeze and over 300 vehicles lined the streets of the downtown square. Committee member Chuck Wenthold said there was about 375 vehicles that were in the event. He described how well it went.
“We’ve had cars coming in since 2 o’clock today, so we’ve got a really great turnout. We’ve got them all the way around the square on both sides and we’re working our way outward from there. We’ve had a standing line at the registration booth, better than we expected. People are out having a good time walking around and looking at all of the cool cars that are here today.”
Awards were also given out. The RPM Club of Carroll once again won $200 cash prize for having the most entries in the event with 22. Jody and Doug Fouch of Grand Junction won the best car award with their 1969 Ford Ranchero. The best motorcycle award went to Larry Joy of Jefferson for his 2008 Harley Davidson Hertiage. The best tractor award went to Jerry Groves from Rippey with his 1958 Farmall 450 tractor.
Plus, Big Red Radio was also there broadcasting live and playing music during the event. To see pictures from the event, check out our Facebook page.
