The City of Jefferson is still accepting applications for any non-profit organization for hotel/motel grants.
The City collects seven-percent of the local tax that’s imposed on renting of lodging within the City. Councilperson Dave Sloan also sits on the application review committee and he describes some of the important areas they look at when considering grant applications.
“We look at a few things. Does it benefit Jefferson? Can it benefit tourism? The application will probably take you about a half an hour (to fill out). They’re not terribly difficult. We may ask questions of you. You don’t have to be there when we go over it, we’ll call you. It’s actually fairly simple process.”
The City has about $35,000 to disperse to any non-profit that is approved by the City Council.
Applications must be in by October 2nd at 5pm to City Hall. Call City Hall with any questions at 386-3111.
