Motorists may see some increased truck traffic in parts of the northeastern corner of Greene County starting this month.
MidAmerican Energy Director of Communications Tina Potthoff says the wind turbines for the 41 sites in Greene County will begin to be delivered starting this month. Each turbine requires nine semi-tractor trailers. She talks about the main partner MidAmerican has with the project.
“These particular wind turbines are coming from Vestas. We ordered our project from Vestas. The great part about these wind turbines are these are actually going to be some of the most efficient wind turbines that we have on our system. They’ve been great partners and there’s other partners that we’re working with on this too with local construction companies.”
The project calls for two turbines brought in every day for 60 days for the Greene County portion of the project. Crews will then move to Boone County, where they will install the other 44 turbines for the Beaver Creek Wind Turbine project. Potthoff adds that MidAmerican Energy will also host a community event where the public will have an opportunity to see the turbines up close.
