A Perry man was arrested last Tuesday after receiving a package containing marijuana from the Perry Post Office.
Just before 11 a.m., 25-year-old Jonathan Scott Woodley was detained and arrested after picking up the package. According to Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn, the parcel had been flagged by the postal service as suspicious. Federal officers executed a probable cause search of the package and discovered it contained marijuana. They then sent the package onto its destination. Woodley admitted he knew the drugs were being mailed to him.
Woodley is being charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, and failure to affix a drug stamp, both class D felonies. He was sent to the Dallas County Jail. He has since been released after his $5,000 bond was paid. He has submitted a waiver for his preliminary hearing, and will be represented by a public defender. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring more information on this case as it becomes official.
