With a lack of rainfall, the Raccoon River Valley slips deeper into drought conditions.
According to the latest information from the US Drought Monitor, most of Greene County is experiencing a moderate drought, while the south border is abnormally dry. The majority of Guthrie and Dallas counties are abnormally dry. The National Weather Service reports that Perry has received 1.94-inches of rain for the month of July, and the normal totals are over four inches. Guthrie Center had 1.33-inches of rainfall for July compared to their normal monthly total of 4.43-inches. There was no information available for Jefferson.
