There’s free entertainment today and tomorrow at the 18th Annual Old-Fashioned Threshing Bee event in Jefferson.
Co-organizer Nick Foster says everyone can enjoy an antique tractor and truck show, along with two threshing bee demonstration times at 10am and 2pm. A steam plowing show takes place this afternoon at 4pm. Plus, there’s kid activities like a petting zoo and a sandbox filled with corn. Foster points out that attendees can also get involved in their demonstrations and shows.
“This show is a very much interactive show. We would definitely like people to step up and help pitch one or two bundles or a whole load, whatever they want to do. We have volunteers there to show everybody how to do it, so don’t feel nervous if you don’t know how to do things. There will be many opportunities to ride on steam engines and get first-hand, up close and personal with them.”
Saturday ends with a free barbecue meal and local musical entertainment at 6pm.
Sunday is a tractor ride to Lohrville and back starting at 7am. There will also be two more threshing bee demonstrations at 1 and 3pm.
Pleasant Prairie Farm is located at 1176 M Avenue in Jefferson.
