Two Greene County teens recently received recognition with state 4-H awards.

Samantha Hardaway earned an award for her dog project, along with Emily Heupel for her citizenship project. They each also received a $100 award from Glen and Mary Jo Mente of Ames and the Iowa 4-H Foundation.

Iowa State University Extension 4-H Youth Program Specialist Bonnie Dalager says to receive a state 4-H award, candidates must complete a rigorous written application and participate in a panel interview process. 4-H projects allow youth the opportunity to improve their skills and knowledge in a variety of areas.

Hardaway and Heupel joined 48 other recipients across the state in receiving awards. A ceremony was recently held at the State 4-H Youth Conference at ISU.
