Saydel (Des Moines) lost in yesterday’s Class 3A State Baseball Tournament quarterfinals, meaning all Heart of Iowa Activities Conference teams have completed their seasons and the All-Conference selections can be announced. Twenty-six players were named to the first and second teams (13 on each), but none were from Greene County High School. League Co-Champions Saydel and North Polk (Alleman) each had four players on the first team with two from Nevada, and one each from CMB (Maxwell), Gilbert, and Roland-Story (Story City). Saydel had four second team selections with one from NP, three from Gilbert, three from PCM (Monroe), and one each from South Hamilton (Jewell) and R-S. Of the nine HOIAC programs, Greene County was the only one without a single player on the first or second team. The Rams were 14-13 overall, but just 5-10 in the conference, good for seventh place in the nine team league.

Senior outfielder Trey Tucker and junior pitcher/infielder Ben Wilkins were named to the honorable mention list. Tucker batted .400 with 19 extra base hits and led the team in most several offensive categories. He also played an outstanding left field. Wilkins went 5-4 on the pitching mound with a 2.24 earn run average. He batted .268 and played third base when not pitching.

Tucker and fellow senior outfielder Chase Stoline were both named All-District by the Iowa Baseball Coaches Association. Tucker was on the first team and Stoline was chosen for the second team.
