ADM BaseballThe Raccoon River Conference baseball scene came to an end yesterday as Bondurant-Farrar, the last conference team left standing, fell to top seed Davenport (Assumption) in the quarter final round of the state tournament.

With the ending of Raccoon River Conference baseball in 2017, it officially gives way to the release of the all conference honors. For ADM, the same four players who earned all conference honors last year became repeat offenders this year. Senior Jack O’Brien and junior Dalton Hews graduated from honorable mentions in 2016 to first team selections in 2017. Despite a more productive season at the plate, Nick Lindgren goes from a first team selection in 2016 to a honorable mention this season. Joining Lindgren as an honorable mention is senior Kade Overton.

Both Overton and Lindgren improved immensely from last year and were two of the big reasons for the offensive surge in 2017. Last year ADM had trouble hitting for power and this year Lindgren helped solve the problem by more than doubling his RBI count from last year while erupting for a team leading 3 home runs and 14 extra base hits. The junior started the season with a 14 game hitting streak.

A similar story line followed Kade Overton who nearly tripled his RBI count from last year graduating from 9 RBI’s in 2016 to 22 in 2017. Overton posted 10 extra base hits and led the team in overall batting with a .387 average. Overton also dazzled on the mound with a team best 51 strikeouts.

As for ADM’s first team selections both Jack O’Brien and Dalton Hews were also instrumental in the success of 2017. Before O’Brien enters college baseball at Northwest Missouri State, he will leave behind a senior season batting .301 with 25 runs driven in. Dalton Hews entered the first team list as an outfielder and was one of the more consistent bats for the Tigers. Out of the 31 games played, Hews recorded at least one hit in all but five games. Hews struck for a .361 batting average and 13 RBI’s.
