A new downtown area business in Jefferson is having a grand opening celebration later today.

Greater Life Chiropractic is owned by Jefferson native Dr. Philip Heisterkamp. He was born and raised in Jefferson and graduated from Northwestern Health Science University this past December with a chiropractic doctorate degree. Dr. Philip talks about his inspiration, which drove him into the chiropractic field.

“I had a great experience in high school with a doctor in town. The coolest story is with my sister. She had a sports injury and had tried different modalities, but then three or four visits to the chiropractor got her back on her feet and back on the playing field. And when I saw what he did for her and how quickly he did it, I knew that’s what I wanted to do to help people.”

The business is located at the corner of Lincoln Way and Chestnut Street on the square. The interior of the building has been completely renovated with new paint, flooring and walls. After graduating, Dr. Philip describes why he wanted to come back to his hometown to start his own business.

“I was flirting with the idea of going to a couple of different places, but when I weighed all of the odds, I didn’t want to help anybody other than my hometown community. I didn’t want to go somewhere and try to set up shop where there were people that I didn’t know. I want to help people that I knew and that I love.”

A grand opening is happening today from 4 to 7pm. There will be tours, free samples of healthy foods and drawings for prizes such as: a new Fitbit, gift cards and a specially designed pillow for stomach sleepers. Dr. Philip adds that anyone who donates $25 to the Greene County Youth Athletic Association will receive a free appointment and consultation.
