The Adair County Fair offers several activities and events on Friday.
The day starts with the Adair County Farm Bureau serving cinnamon rolls, juice and coffee for free at 7am at the Varied Industries Building. The horse show begins at 8am, followed by the market lamb and breeding sheep show at 9am. A senior citizens event will take place from 8:30 to 11am in the 4-H and FFA Center to honor those individuals during “Senior Day” at the fair. Fair Board Vice President Gina Meisenheimer talks about why they designate a day to honor seniors at the fair.
“They’re kind of the backbone of the community we feel. We just try to do things that would be interesting to them. I know they have some activities, they have a speaker come and talk to them and some kind of entertainment. They’re important to the fair. They were kind of the founding people of the fair, so it’s important to include them in everything.”
Then at 11am will be the dog agility show, followed by the meat goat show at 11:30. The evening activities include the bucket and bottle calf show and ag olympics. The grandstand entertainment will feature a kid’s coin scramble and a new event of “Celebrity” Donkey Races by Dairyland Donkey Ball at 7pm.
Plus, Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will continue to broadcast live during the fair today through Saturday from 10am to 6pm and Sunday from 10am to 3pm.
