The importance of pitching is illustrated in the recently completed Greene County High School baseball team. The Rams were 14-13 this season, am improvement over the 11-16 team of 2016. The ’16 Rams actually batted 20 points higher (.297-.277) than this year, yet the record improved.

Better pitching a a big reason why. The 2016 team earned run average was. 5.40 and opponents batted .246 against the Rams. This season, Greene County’s combined ERA was 2.44 and opponents his just .189.  The number of walks issued by the Rams were also down this year, at 93, compared to 109 last season, yet the strikeouts were up to 140, an increase of 31 from the 109 K’s recorded last year.

The number of errors charged were nearly identical from last season to this at 65 a year ago and 67 this season.

Dylan Fouch, Logan Lansman, Chase Stoline, and Trey Tucker, were the four seniors on the team. Only Fouch pitched appreciable innings. He had a 5-2 record and 1.71 ERA as a senior and was much improved from last year to this.
