With the 2017 baseball season officially at a close for West Central Valley baseball, here are the final statistics.
Offensively, the Wildcats totaled a 15-10 record after accumulating 204 hits and 142 RBI’s. The Wildcats were pretty efficient with their scoring averaging just over 7 runs per game. West Central Valley averaged .327 at the plate collectively while averaging just over 8 hits per contest. The Wildcats proved they can hit for power collecting 33 doubles, 5 triples, and a pair of home runs. They also showed their patience averaging a conference low 3.8 strikeouts per game.
Individually on the offensive note, Drew Taylor led the charge with a season batting average at .483 which put the soon to be freshmen inside the top five batters in the West Central Activities Conference with at least 22 games played. Taylor also tied with Knick Badker for the team lead in RBI’s with 23.
Defensively the Wildcats were sound averaging just 1.4 errors per game.
On the mound the Wildcats put up a 6.35 ERA while tossing an average of over 5 strikeouts per game. Opposing teams were only able to muster a .226 batting average against the Wildcats all season. Individually Cole Arnburg led the way on the mound delivering on over 53 strikeouts through 46 innings pitched while accumulating an Earned Run Average of 4.83.
West Central Valley ended the regular season 4th in the West Central Activities Conference standings.
