Greene County’s high school baseball regular season comes to an end tonight. Coach Mark Sawhill’s Rams travel to Alleman to face North Polk in the last Heart of Iowa Activities Conference contest for both teams.

The Rams are 13-11 and have six victories in a row. The Comets overcame a 3-1 deficit in Jefferson last month and won 8-4 in the first meeting between the two. NP entered the week at 22-7 and a victory for the Comets would tie them with Saydel (Des Moines) for the HOIAC title. A victory by the Rams would mean Saydel would be the conference champions by themselves.

After tonight, Greene County is off until meeting ADM in Harlan at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 14 in the opening round of Class 3A District 15 baseball. It’s one loss and the season is over once the postseason begins. Coverage on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com begins at 4:30 p.m.
