Greene County Supervisors 7_10The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

During open forum, Assistant to the County Attorney Thomas Laehn updated the Board on the ProLaw software. He said the Iowa Association of Counties will be sending a representative to train the county attorney’s office on the software the first week of August.

The Board then heard an update from Jefferson City Administrator Mike Palmer. He said the Community Development Block Grant project is continuing to progress. There have been some changes to the original plans for some of the buildings such as Muir Embroidery. Palmer said Muir’s will need the entire front to be completely renovated, which is much more detailed than originally thought. He alo mentioned that a committee will review the proposed $70,000 for the City to possibly re-do the curbs and storm sewer next year when the Department of Transportation resurfaces Highway 4 from Lincoln Way north to Highway 30.

The Board then approved the cancellation of the service contract and municipal ordinance contract with the City of Scranton. During the discussion, Sheriff Jack Williams said the changes he is proposing in the new 28E agreement for law enforcement coverage eliminates animal control calls and the specified times that a deputy is patrolling the city. The municipal service contract change would be to charge an hourly fee to handle municipal infractions. The City of Scranton now has 30 days to decide if they want to sign the new agreement.

The Supervisors also approved the County Auditor’s quarterly passport report of $925 for April through June as presented.

Finally, County Engineer Wade Weiss told the Board that he is planning on building a shell of the new secondary roads department service facility in Scranton at their new location. He also mentioned that he is purchasing four new dump trucks for the secondary roads department.
