The City of Adel will hold a public hearing Tuesday evening to discuss the proposed annexation of over 1,000 acres of land south of town.
The hearing was originally scheduled for June 13th, but due to an error in the timing of the public notice, it had to be postponed. The hearing will be held during the regular City Council meeting, though it won’t be in the normal location. Due to the anticipated large number of people attending, the meeting has been moved to the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School auditorium. It will be held at 6 p.m.
Many in the community have voiced their opposition to the proposed annexation, including the Dallas County Supervisors. They recently passed a resolution stating their opposition, which will be presented at the public hearing. They expressed concerns about the City’s ability to extend sewer, water, and emergency services to the area, as well as how the infrastructure will be paid for.
Listen Thursday for a full recap of the public hearing.
