Final statistics for the 2017 Greene County High School softball season have been updated by head coach Tom Kennedy. The Rams were 10-20 overall and went 5-10 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference, good for seventh place among nine teams.
We looked at some of the offensive numbers yesterday. Today, we look at pitching and defense.
Senior Hannah Promes pitched the most varsity innings at 104-2/3. She had a 5-11 record with an earned run average of 4.35 runs per game. Promes walked 48 batters, hit 11 with pitches and struck out 61. Opponents batted .284 off her. Junior Samantha Hardaway was 1-0 with 7-2/3 innings pitched. Her lone varsity start was a 6-3 win vs. then number 15 in Class 3A Southeast Valley (Gowrie) at the South Hamilton Tournament. Hardaway had no earned runs allowed on 11 hits, two walks, a one hit batter, and four strikeouts. Opponents batted .306 against her. Sophomore Jenna Beyers threw 60 innings with a 3-9 record. She allowed 82 hits and had a 7.35 ERA. Beyers walked 51 batters, struck out 56, and hit four with pitches, and opponents hit .306.
Greene County was charged with 100 errors in 30 games, or 3.33 errors per contest. The team fielding percentage was .880.
