The Stuart City Council met in special session last night. The council approved 2018 fiscal year wage rates for city employees, and repealed the city’s fireworks ordinance, which had made the lighting off of fireworks in the city illegal.
With the repeal of the ordinance, the law defaults to state code which was recently altered to allow the use of fireworks around the Fourth of July holiday with some restrictions. The vote to repeal passed 4-1 Councilman Neal Crawford opposed.
The Council also heard updates on the expansion of Karl’s Chevrolet and an update from SEED regarding a possible purchase catholic church property on 2nd Street or further investment in the city’s Wambold addition project.
