Starting today and running through Sunday, the second annual 99-County Bible Reading Marathon will be camped out on courthouse lawns across the state.
The Dallas County courthouse in Adel will be one such site. In 2016, then-Governor Terry Branstad signed a proclamation establishing the marathon statewide. Organizers said last year was a big success, and they’re looking forward to even bigger numbers this year. The Iowa Prayer Caucus is running the event, and they officially got permission to use the Dallas County courthouse lawn at the recent Board of Supervisors meeting.
The marathon will run from 8 a.m. through 10 p.m., Thursday through Sunday.
