Even though it seems like yesterday that the 2017 season started, the regular season will come to a close tomorrow for the ACGC softball team with a double header match up hosting Des Moines Christian.

Just like any team, the Lady Chargers would like to end of their 2017 regular season campaign with two more wins on the docket before they hit postseason play on July 3rd. In order to accomplish that ACGC will have to muster their A game and then some against a Lady Lion team with 12 home runs and 156 RBI’s on the season.

ACGC head softball coach Tim O’Brien shares the sentiment although as he told Raccoon Valley Radio, his main focus against Des Moines Christian lies primarily inside the circle.

” Des Moines Christian has (Olivia) Penland pitching for them and she’s a tough pitcher. She’s a veteran inside the circle and so if we can get on hitting her early and often then I think it will be a pretty good night but if stands back there and picks us apart then it could be a long night for the girls,” stated coach O’Brien.

ACGC is averaging just over 6 runs per contest but they will most likely need even more as Penland will enter tomorrow night leading the conference in low ERA at 3.02. That’s complemented with 70 strikeouts and just 15 walks for the junior.

ACGC will look for their bats to come alive in a big way tomorrow night starting with game one first pitch at 5:00 pm in Guthrie Center.
