guthrie county conservationA Hunter’s Safety Course will be held in Guthrie County next month.

Guthrie County Conservation Director Joe Hanner says hunter’s safety is an important part of conservation.

“If we can encourage younger generations to respect natural resources and safely and responsibly enjoy the outdoors, we can foster feelings of ownership for those resources.”

The Guthrie County Conservation Board and the Guthrie County Pheasants Forever Chapter will hold the class on July 20th and 21st at the Conservation Board Office in the Guthrie County Historical Village campus in Panora. On Thursday the hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Participants should bring a sack lunch Thursday. Lunch will be on your own after the course is finished on Friday.

Anyone born after January 1, 1972, must have completed a Hunter’s Education Course and must be 12 years old before obtaining an Iowa Hunters Safety Certificate or license.

Class size is limited and registration must take place between June 26th and July 17th.

Attendance at both days is required. Participants must register online:
