The high school softball pairings for Classes 1A, 2A, and 3A, were released earlier this week by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union and Greene County will be traveling to Cherokee for a first round contest vs. the Braves. Greene County head coach Tom Kennedy said he wasn’t surprised his team is traveling, but a two-hour bus ride northwest of Jefferson wasn’t a location that was expected. “I didn’t know which way we’d go, but we were 5-16 when they made the pairings, so we knew we’d have to go somewhere. We’ll make the best of it and see what we can do.”
Kennedy added he’ll be gathering scouting reports on Cherokee, ranked fifteenth in 3A by the IGHSAU, between now and July 5, when the Rams open Class 3A Region 3 action.
KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com will have the broadcast on July 5 from Cherokee with coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m.
