The Perry Farmers Market in its current location at the Perry Marketplace

The Perry farmers market has been held twice so far this summer at the Perry Marketplace at Caboose Park. However, there will only be two more markets held at that location, as starting in July they will be held at the Josh Davis Plaza in the downtown area.

Chamber of Commerce Director Bob Wilson says this is something the Chamber Board has been brainstorming for the last several weeks, and at last week’s meeting they decided to pull the trigger. Wilson said their hope is by moving the farmers market downtown, it will create even more of an event feel every Thursday night.

“We’re trying to make it a place to be. We need you guys to come down and really show these vendors like, ‘Heck yeah, this is a good idea! You know, we’re going to come and support you every week.’ It is going to be an experiment, there’s going to be some bumps in the road, we’re trying to plan that all out. But we want your feedback, we’re open to criticism. And that’s what we’re all about, is making things better for the community, quality of life programming.”

Wilson adds, they’re still looking for farmers market vendors, including bakers, gardeners, and crafters. If anyone is interested, they are encouraged to talk to Wilson at the Chamber office at City Hall. The first market at the Josh Davis Plaza will be on Thursday, July 6th.
