At the most recent Perry School Board meeting, they discussed transferring money from their general fund to the student activity fund.
The funds were to pay for protective and safety equipment that had been purchased around the beginning of the most recent school year. The equipment included things like helmets and pads for football, baseball, and softball, and cost $9,035.78. Superintendent Lynn Ubben said annually the school allots around $10,000 for new protective equipment, and up until recently it had always been purchased using the general fund.
However, with recent law changes at the Iowa legislature, they had to use the student activity fund. Ubben says they will still use money from the general fund, but it will need to get Board approval to be moved to the student activity fund in order to be used. The Board unanimously approved the fund transfer.
