Greene County Development Corporation met Tuesday.
The meeting started with a presentation by Greene County Youth Athletic Association President Jamie Daubendiek. He said GCYAA purchased The Fieldhouse with a $150,000 grant that they received from Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation. They also hired Greene County Schools Activities Director and high school head football coach Mitch Moore as the director. They want to help youth train for all kinds of sports and are partnering with the Greene County School District to offer team training programs.
During reports, Greene County Schools Superintendent Tim Christensen said the summer lunch program had started and in the past, they average between 200 to 250 students per day taking advantage of the free program. Small Business Development Center Director Kimberly Tiefenthalter talked about free services they provided for new and existing businesses. Last fiscal year, SBDC worked with 17 clients in Greene County and spent 75 counseling hours with them.
Community Development Director Ken Paxton then gave an update. He said Zach Mannheimer will return to Greene County June 27th through the 29th to hold various meetings with every city to receive their input for the Vision 20/20 program. He mentioned a meeting is scheduled with a housing construction company to possibly start a housing project. Finally, Paxton noted that his office will remain inside Jefferson City Hall, while the Greene County Chamber office moved to the Thomas Jefferson Gardens Education and Welcome Center.
