The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Guthrie County takes place tomorrow.
Raccoon Valley Radio will be there starting at 3:00 p.m. to make local announcements and provide musical entertainment until 10:00 p.m. The Relay at the AC/GC High School track in Guthrie Center is just one part of a whole night of events to remember. Coordinator Kim Durst says many people’s favorite part of the ceremony is the lighting of the luminara.
“We have these luminara lit and decorated in remembrance of people lost to cancer. It can be a very moving experience for many people.”
Fundraising through Relay For Life events supports the Society’s mission to prevent cancer, save lives and diminish suffering from cancer. A full list of the night’s events can be found below:
3 p.m. – Raccoon Valley Radio
4-6 p.m. – Survivor/Caregiver Registration-At the Survivor tent on the track.
6-8 p.m.- Kid Games on the Track
4-7 p.m. – Silent Auction
4:30 – 5:45 p.m. – Team Pictures–Main Stage
5 p.m. – Dancers: Adair Dance Academy and Main Street Dance
5 p.m. – Dinner @ The Track– Free-will donation-served by Betty Smith family. While supplies last!
5:30 p.m. – Cake Walk – Food Tent-West of the concession stand.
6 p.m. – Opening Ceremony Presentation
