The Perry baseball team exploded for 12 runs in their final 2 innings and scored 15 unanswered runs to defeat ADM 15-3 Wednesday night in Adel. The Tigers grabbed an early 3-0 lead after scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Perry was able chip away with a single run in the 2nd and 2 more in the 4th before sending 11 batters to the plate and scoring 7 runs in the 5th inning to grab the lead for good. Perry added 5 more runs in the sixth to end the game early.
The Bluejays pounded out 12 hits off 4 ADM pitchers. Adan Medina led the way with 4 RBI’s including a bases clearing double in the 6th inning. Brandon Kenyon went 3-5 with 3 RBI’s. Kaleb Olejniczak, Janier Puente and Justin Stammer added 2 RBI’s each. Stammer’s 2-out single in the 5th inning opened the floodgates for Perry as 7 straight batters reached after his hit.
Kyle Nevitt earned the win allowing 2 earned runs in 4 innings of work while striking out 4. Austin Carpenter pitched 2 scoreless innings of relief.
Nick Dufoe started for ADM working the first 3 innings. Cody Osgood took the loss in relief allowing 2 earned runs in 1 2/3 innings of work. Kade Overton reached base safely all 4 times while Jack OBrien added a RBI double and single. Dufoe knocked in a run with a RBI groundball in the first inning.
Perry improves to 5-10 on the season and 3-4 in RRC play. ADM falls to 10-5 and 3-4 in RRC.
Perry host Saydel tonight in a 7:00 game while ADM travels to first place Carlisle.
