Dozens of people got to meet the new administrator at Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jefferson Wednesday at an open house.
Mike Ewalt is originally from South Dakota. He previously worked as the administrator at New Homestead in Guthrie Center from March of 2016 to May of 2017. He says he found out about the administrator position at Regency after Randy Downey had retired. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio what he’s most excited about in his new venture as administrator at Regency Park.
“Well I really enjoy the town, it’s a beautiful town. I enjoy the people. Our employees are second to none and the residents are fantastic. I really enjoy being the nursing home administrator, dealing with the elderly, and making sure that they are getting the right and proper care that they deserve.”
Mike is married to Mary and they have three kids including a recent high school graduate Kyle, going to be a high school freshman Josh and a fifth grader named Emma. Mike and his family hope to move to Jefferson soon.
Wednesday was also Flag Day and the Jefferson Elks Lodge put on a flag ceremony at Regency Park following the open house. They went over the history of the American Flag for about a dozen Regency Park residents. Bett and Bev’s BBQ also had an outdoor flag display, featuring two American flags with 29-stars from when Iowa first became a state in 1846.
