Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity has several projects planned in Greene County this year.
Associate Director Jeff Lamoureux says the construction year began with a project at the home of Adam Brubaker at 105 East Vest Street in Jefferson.
“Adam Brubaker was unexpectedly paralyzed and was going through some therapy but their home needed to be fitted for handicap accessibility. The family had called on Habitat and we were thrilled to help out. We drew up plans for a handicap accessible ramp.”
The next project for the Helping Hands program was in Grand Junction at the home of Rita Jenkins at 302 9th Street. Lamoureux says volunteers repainted the stucco home. Another exterior painting project that’s already started in Jefferson is at 407 East State Street, the home of Sam Schmitt. A fourth project will be in Scranton where Lamoureux says they’ll put new siding on the home of Larry Erickson at 404 Main Street. The final project will be in Paton with the help from John Deere in Paton employees.
