Greene County was a 16-9 Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball winner on Wednesday night at Allensworth Field in Jefferson. The Rams had lost five of their previous six before getting their second win vs. the Raiders in as many meetings. Coach Mark Sawhill’s Rams improve to 4-6 in the conference and 5-8 overall while CMB fell to 2-10 and 2-8.

Sophomore Bryce Hoyle was the Greene County starting pitcher. He went 4-2/3 innings and allowed seven runs, four earned. The left hander gave up four hits and six walks, while recording seven strikeouts. Junior Ben Bravard went the last 2-2/3 innings. He allowed two runs, both earned, on three hits and three walks without a strikeout.

CMB led 2-0 after one inning, but two-run doubles by seniors Chase Stoline and Trey Tucker buoyed the Rams to seven runs in the frame. Greene County built the lead to 9-2 after four innings, but a six-run fifth made it 9-8 before the Rams tacked on three more in the fifth and four runs in the sixth.

Greene County had 14 hits and two errors while CMB had seven hits and three errors. Stoline finished with three hits and two RBI and Tucker added a triple to go with his two-run double and he drove four runs in. Logan Lansman singled three times with Austin Delp adding two singles and three RBI. Hoyle had two singles and one run batted in, and Bravard had two base hits and two RBI.

The Rams are at Bondurant vs. Bondurant-Farrar in non-conference action tonight.
