unemployment-numbersApril’s unemployment rates saw some of the lowest numbers yet in the Raccoon River Valley areas.

According to Iowa Workforce Development in Dallas County, the percentage of those without a job in April was 1.9-percent. Dallas County is at the lowest unemployment percentage for the year. The highest was in January at 2.7-percent. Greene County saw no change from March to April at 2.7-percent. Guthrie County went from 3.7-percent of those without a job in March to 3.1-percent in April.

All three counties are sitting better now compared to this time last year. In April of 2016, Iowa Workforce Development reported that Dallas County’s unemployment rate was 2.6-percent, Greene County was at 3.7-percent and Guthrie County was 3.5-percent.

Iowa’s unemployment rate for April is 3.1-percent, while the national unemployment rate is 4.4-percent.
