The ACGC Charger softball and baseball teams were in action Thursday night looking to end the week off with a pair of double header wins. It would be the Charger baseball team to split the double header 4-3 in game one while falling 14-5 in game two. As for the Charger softball squad fell in a close game one 7-8 while on the unfortunate end of a game two lopsided loss 14-4.
In game number two for the Lady Chargers it was Emily Pavelka to steal the show going a perfect 3-3 at the plate while picking up five of the teams 7 RBI’s in that contest. Savanna Fuller would go just over six innings of strong work, giving up 6 earned runs on 11 hits, and three walks but did toss seven strikeouts in the process. Game number one wasn’t as hot for the Lady Chargers who saw themselves down quickly 11-4 after three full innings. ACGC could not tack on another run past that and would watch Earlham put up three more runs for the 14-4 score. Sophomore Katelyn Thompson would take loss going three innings, giving up 11 earned runs off of 11 hits while walking one.
As for the Charger baseball team, they would split their contest against Earlham. The win for the Chargers came in the form of a 4-3 contest scoring all four runs in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings. They would hold an Earlham 6th inning rally to just two runs to preserve the one run win. Junior Logan Brinks would lead the way in that contest going 1-4 and knocking in 2 RBI’s. Quenton Spack would get the win on five innings, giving up 1 earned run on 6 hits, 4 walks, and 1 strikeout. The other game for the Chargers didn’t turn out as good. ACGC would match their game one total with 4 runs but Earlham would far outdo that number with five runs through two innings and 8 runs through the final two innings en rout to a 14-5 win over the Chargers.
The Lady Charger softball team would also drop yesterday’s contest to West Marshall by the final score of 7-1 giving them a 5-8 record overall while the Charger baseball team wields a 3-6 record heading into next weeks action.
