The offense carried the Greene County softball team to a 12-9 non-conference victory on Thursday over Class 1A number 13 Glidden-Ralston at Glidden. Jenna Beyers hit a three-run home run and the Rams collected 17 hits to improve to 3-10 on the season while the Wildcats fell to 8-4.
Beyers was Thursday’s starting pitcher, but she trailed 7-6 after three-plus innings and was relieved by Hannah Promes who picked up the win by going the last four. Promes gave up no runs on two hits with five strikeouts and no walks.
Beyers’ homer was her second this season. She also singled and had three runs batted in. Megan Durbin singled three times and drove in a run, and Izzy Bravard had three base hits and also drove in one run. Three other Rams had two hits. Faith Davis had two singles with Laurin Lyons collecting a double and single, and one RBI, and Samantha Hardaway also had a double, single, and one run batted in. Tieryn Tucker doubled and had one RBI, and Promes added a run-scoring single.
Alison Bagley had three hits and three RBI for the Wildcats.
The Rams play at Heart of Iowa Activities Contest at 5:30 p.m. today in Gilbert. This is varsity only with no JV game today.
