Senior Filly pitcher Allie Boender matched her season high in strikeouts last night, stifling the ADM line up for 11 strikeouts in a contest were runs would come at quite the premium but one that Dallas Center-Grimes would win by the barn burner 2-1.
Offense was quite hard to come by with both teams combining for just 8 hits throughout the entire contest. ADM would account for 4 of those and out of the 8 runners in scoring position throughout the game, they would not be able to connect on all 8 opportunities. The lone offense put up on the board for ADM was Kila Carbine’s team leading 15th RBI to score Aniston Smith from first base in the top of the sixth inning. Dallas Center-Grimes put up their first run on the night in the bottom of the 3rd to take the 1-0 lead and after ADM equalized the game at 1-1, a costly Lady Tiger error in the bottom of the 7th would plate home the winning run for the Fillies.
ADM’s hurler inside the circle Abbie Hlas, pitched rather well holding a Dallas Center-Grimes line up averaging 5 runs per contest to just one run on her watch. The freshmen went just over 6 strong innings of work, giving up just one earned run, one walk, while tossing two strikeouts. The winning pitcher in the contest went to Boender who tossed 11 strikeouts but did walk 10 ADM batters while Dallas Center-Grimes allowed only one run in the process.
ADM now watches their record drop to 8-6 overall with a non conference mark of 5-3. The busy week will continue on for the Lady Tigers today and tomorrow as ADM welcomes in Ballard, Ankeney Centennial, Colfax-Mingo, Sargent Bluff Luton, and Van Meter to their home weekend tournament in Adel. Today’s action with start with first games beginning at 11:00 am.
