Summer heat is rising is Guthrie County.

Guthrie and Adair County Emergency Manager Bob Kempf tells Raccoon Valley Radio summer heat can be extremely dangerous if we are not careful about hydration, the clothing we wear and protecting ourselves from the sun.

“You need to make sure you are dressed for the weather. Wear loose fitting, lighter-colored clothes that will reflect the heat and make sure to drink (water) even if you are not thirsty.”

Kempf also adds that special care should be taken to protect pets and children in cars in the summer heat. He says 37 children across the country died last year after being left in cars that quickly heated up.
