iowa-state-patrolIowa State Patrol is continuing their investigation into a fatal traffic accident in Greene County.

Sheriff Jack Williams says the Sheriff’s office, Iowa State Patrol, Greene County Emergency Medical Services, along with Grand Junction, Jefferson and Paton Fire Departments responded to the crash at 11:20am in the 2400 block of 130th Street. According to the State Patrol report, a 1996 freight semi-tractor trailer was following a 1965 International Farmall tractor heading eastbound on 130th Street when the semi rear ended the tractor. Both vehicles went toward the north ditch and the tractor rolled onto the driver.

Forty-seven-year-old Pat Fields of Paton was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials are waiting on results from the State Medical Examiners office. Officials tell Raccoon Valley Radio that it is typical in an accident like this that an autopsy is performed by the State Medical Examiner. The driver of the semi, 25-year-old Troy Shaw of Harcourt, was uninjured. Both the tractor and the semi-tractor were total losses.

The Iowa State Patrol is in charge of the investigation.
