Livermore- The Iowa high school boys golf season has officially come to a close with the end of day two of each classes state golf meet Saturday.
For class 3A after all the grass settled, it would be round one’s leader Central DeWitt to never look back and take the 3A state meet crown with a winning total of 622. Webster City bested Central DeWitt by two strokes in round two but wasn’t enough to overcome the overall deficit as they would take second followed by MOC-Floyd Valley rounding out the top three.
As for the ADM Tigers, they will still be chasing their 1984 state championship team after placing 8th in the 2017 state meet with a score of 672. The Tigers did end up with a representative inside the top ten individual golfers with Micah Moyer claiming 9th overall with a combined total of 153. Moyer shot a first round 74 but couldn’t match that Saturday as a 4 bogie back nine put the junior with a 79 for round two. Following Moyer was the second of ADM’s one-two punch , Jacob Schumacher notching a 28th place finish with a 36 hole score of 165.
Will Geadelmann shot three stokes better in round two and brought his meet total to 183 which actually tied with fellow ADM golfer Matthew West as both tied for 53rd overall. Grant Curran shaved 10 strokes off his round one performance while Adam O’Connor doubled that by improving 20 strokes from round one although both ended up shooting a collective 188 for 58th place.
The ADM boys golf team ends their 2017 campaign as the 8th best team in class 3A and Raccoon River Conference champions.
