Jefferson City Councilperson Dan Benitz recently resigned his position on the Council.
He submitted his letter of resignation on May 18th effective immediately. The reasons he gave were receiving feedback for not attending a committee meeting on Monday, May 8th, due to family commitments and missing a City Council meeting on May 9th, due to working for his employer northwest of Rockwell City.
Benitz won the 2016 election to fill Council member Lisa Jaskey’s term after she resigned to relocate to Texas. Benitz beat Matt Wetrich and Kirk Hammer in that election. The term runs through 2019.
