The State Data Center recently released population estimates for 2016.
According to the report, Dallas County had has 84,516 residents based on figures from July 1, 2016. That’s a 27.8-percent population increase since April 1, 2010, which is the largest increase for a county in the state. Based on the same timeline, Guthrie County saw a three-percent decrease in population with 10,625 residents. Greene County had a 3.5-percent drop in population with 9,011 residents.
The highest county population is Polk County with almost 475,000 people, while the lowest population county in the state is Adams County with 3,693. The county with the highest percentage drop in population is Adair County losing 7.2-percent of residents since 2010.
