Round one of the class 2A boys state golf meet has officially concluded after 18 holes from the Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge.
Through 9 teams and 67 individual golfers, the 4th ranked Panthers currently reside in 3rd place after shooting a collective team round of 304. The only two teams preceding Panorama are 3rd ranked Clear Lake in the second spot with a 301 and class 2A’s second ranked Sheldon earning top honors with a 294.
The good news for Panorama is that three of the top ten scores in round one belong to the Panthers. Freshmen Kolby Shackelford shot just five strokes over his 18 hole season low after shooting 73 which places his tied for 10th overall. Both of Panorama’s top seniors in George Appleseth and Will Babcock are two of six golfers who sit tied for 4th place overall with 18 hole rounds of 72. No other school has more than two golfers inside the top 22 golfers overall.
Sophomore Trey Cobb took the fourth counting score for the Panthers after shooting a round of 87. The rest of the Panther roster included Dylan Douglass shooting 95 for the day with Mitch Wagler right behind with a 96 ranking them 61st and 64th respectively.
Panorama will look to make their big strike for the top spot tomorrow morning which begins bright and early from the Lakeside Golf Course beginning at 8:00 am.
